Hiking on Peng Chau (坪洲)

Boats on Peng Chau

I keep saying this but I do need to get into better shape. I also need to get to know Hong Kong more. Yesterday, I had a half day at work so I decided to go for a bit of hiking on an island called Peng Chau (坪洲). It’s about a half hour ferry ride from Central.

The island is very small and I was able to see it all in about three hours. Walking around was also easy since most of it is flat with only one really big hill. The houses are mostly fishing type villages with a few restaurants and such. There are a few forests around as well thus I was able to breath fresh air, something I haven’t done in a while. The feeling on the island was of calm. It was a Thursday so there were no people around other than the locals. It was kind of like being in a different country. I walked around and just enjoyed the day. I took too many pictures and will have to get rid of a lot of them.

My hike ended at a French wine café near the ferry terminal. The owners were all French and they were very giddy that the new Bourgelais Nouveau wine was coming. I had a glass and felt very relaxed. I took the fast ferry back to Central to meet a friend for dinner. Such a good day.
