Lunang Nam Tha to Luang Prabang

Dark green jungle with light green rice fields. Huge puffy white clouds with a powder blue sky. There are magnificent hills covered in trees, rice or corn. The Mekong river is massive but its waters are an orange/red from the soil. The houses are all wooden shacks on stilts to protect them from the monsoon rains. They look like they could fall over with a strong gust of wind.

I’m in a mini van heading to Luang Prabang from Lunang Nam Tha. The van has 3 Israli 3 Germans 2 Dutch and I. The common language is English. They complain A LOT but I don’t.

It takes 8 hours to get there through some of the worst roads both in surface quality and windy. One has already become car sick and I was next.

They hate the ride. I love it. For me it is not the destination but the ride between destinations where you can truly see a country and a culture.

I love this place.
