Colombo — Day 1

It’s hot. About 35 C hot. When I arrived I had to get adjusted since the city is also high compared with Hong Kong. I had a massive head ache.

The afternoon was spent in a colonial hotel called the Mount Lavinia Hotel. A massive white building surrounded by perfectly cut grass and full uniformed men running about. I read under a hot sun with a lime-ginger drink.

Later I took a city tour of mostly old colonial buildings and some Buddhist temples. It was a private tour and it gave me a better sense of where I am. At the end of the tour, we stopped for some chicken briyani an Indian dish modified for the spicy Sri Lankan pallet.

The night ended with a walk along the beach. A great way to end day 1 in Sri Lanka
