Chili Cook Off in Sai Kung

My good friend, Jared, hosted a great chili cook off for his parents who are visiting Hong Kong for the first time. It is the first time they have been in Hong Kong and he wanted to have a nice event for everyone to get together to eat good food and get to know his parents.

There were 6 different types of chili cooked by everyone. Jared’s was a Texas chili which meant no beans. There were two vegetarian chili’s cooked by Ellen and Issac & Lacey. The others were made by Mitch, Michael, Marysia. The spiciest was Jared’s and it had a lot of beef so it was the most popular. Mitch’s was really good and reminded me a lot of my parents one. Ellen’s was really good and had some beef like items. The rest I couldn’t taste because I was just too full. The food was great and it all lasted well into the night.

After everyone was pleasantly stuffed we just sat out and talked. The rains came down which is very unusual for Hong Kong in January but the weather has been really weird lately. I even wore shorts for most of the day. We moved inside where a few guys pulled out the guitars, the piano. It was such a great time.

I was supposed to go sailing for the day but I just didn’t feel like going since it was far away and I didn’t want to get crammed into a small boat again. I will do the sailing lessons at another time but I was happy to hang out with some great friends.
