Akiko Kobayashi in Laos

I met her while getting some Lao noodle soup. She had a Japanese-Lao Dictionary and I asked to sit with her. She is a middle school English teacher who has decided to come to Laos and volunteer as part of a NGO program to help students here. She will not teach in a school but provide some after school programs for the students here. The programs include dance, radio, art and more fun types of things. The students are elementary kids so it’ll be a fun way to learn. She will be here for two years. She has been here for a month to learn the language and a bit of the culture. Her language seems pretty good when talking to the locals. She invited me to volunteer tomorrow night at the center. I agreed and I am looking forward to it.
