Hong Kong W Hotel
I have known Ben since 2001 when I met him at a gay softball league in Montreal. I hung out with him in Korea when he worked for Samsung Insurance. He is a high roller and likes the finer things in life. He is good at his job and for that they pay him a lot of money. Everyone once and a while he flies into where ever I am cause he has business or he is in transit and last night was no different. He is currently on a NYC-Zurich-Dubai-Singapore-Bangkok-Phuket-Hong Kong-Tokyo-San Francisco-NYC trip. All of it in first class and staying in some of the best hotels done by air miles.
We went to Ozone a bar on top of the International Commerce Centre (currently the highest building in Hong Kong. The bar overlooks the harbour and serves some amazing drinks. The problem is the cost. It was expensive but I didn’t pay. The weather was muggy and cloudy so the view wasn’t as good as I am sure it is on some night. The place looks nice but it wasn’t comfortable. The furniture was stylish but not practical.
The second place was the W Hotel Hong Kong and it was a better fit. We drank nice Perrier-Jouet Champagne. It was expensive, I paid but it was great. I met his friend who also lives in HK. It was great to have a classy night out for a change.
