I watched the film “True Grit” for the second time last night and found it as good as the second time I saw it. It is directed by the Coen Brothers (“Fargo”, “No Country for Old Men”, “O Brother Where Art Thou””). The film itself is a remake of an old western movie which started John Wayne and won him his Oscar award.
The thing I love about the movie is how well written it is. The actors do not use contractions (I’m, You’re, He’s…). In the past, I am guessing, they spoke this way. The language was very high level with words that are not used in today’s everyday speech. The little girl, played by Hailee Steinfeld, tends to steel the movie away with her quick wit and delivering very complicated dialogue at such a young age. There are a few uncomfortable scenes but beyond that it was really good. I highly recommend it.
I went to the movie with my friend who is visiting from Korea. She also loved the movie.
