I love Korea
I had forgotten how much I love this country and the people here. I have just spent the day wandering around my favorite places in Seoul (samcheong dong (삼청동) daehangno (대학로), chungdukgun (창덕궁), and a few other places). The weather is incredable with deep blue skies and puffy white clouds. It is hot but not Hong Kong hot.
Tonight I’ll meet up with some old students from Kunsan National University. I’m really looking forward to meeting them. Being a teacher or professor is an important relationship in this country more so than in Canada. I don’t know about in Hong Kong because of the special nature of my school. I still keep in contact with them via facebook and other mediums. It is hard but it is still wonderful to have these connections.
While here I have noticed my Korean improving. I am talking more Korean when I am alone in the city and the people like to hear it. It is one of my biggest regrets that I didn’t learn enough of it to understand this beautiful place more. I can survive. I can make small talk but I can’t have the deep meaningful conversation I want to have. I wish I could.
