Plane Tickets are GREAT Stress Relievers.

Wat Pho in Bangkonk

After a month on the job I feel stressed. I am not that comfortable teaching where I am. It is a bit unfamiliar because there are more teachers and a bit more bureaucracy to deal with. I haven’t been sleeping that well thus I am stressed. Got to get away and I did to Bangkok.

It only cost me 1,500 HKD ($200 CDN) for a round trip flight on Royal Jordanian Airlines. Don’t ask me how www.kayak.com came up with that one. I left on Thursday night and got back on Sunday morning. It has been 4 years since my last trip to Thailand and was looking forward to a cheap weekend away. Yes I could have paid off money I owed to friends or paid off credit cards, but I needed a vacation.

My two good friends Dwayne and Kennon, whom I taught with in Korea, have been living there for the past 2 years. I wanted to visit them. I booked myself into a nice hotel for only $20 a night. I love the off-season deals. I also just wanted to eat cheap food and take some pictures and have too many massages. I met up with them both and they showed me the REAL Bangkok as in the places where the locals hang out.

I went to a great all you can eat ribs restaurant and then too massages galore. I had 5 of them in only 3 days. They always felt good. They took me to the gay areas near seedy Patpong, how considerate. They also took me to some nice places to get cheap T-Shirts and such. The food I had was great, the friends were wonderful and I came back to Hong Kong very relaxed and ready for the next bit till Christmas.

I love my mini-vacations.
