Sunflower Farm

There’s a sunflower farm near my school and is surrounded by garages, electronic and construction waste sites. The recent terential down poors have flooded the farm with a lot of the toxins coming from the surrounding area killing the sunflowers. As a way to save the farm, the owner has opened it up to the public to buy plants for $40HKD and to take pictures.

SIGNS POINTING THE WAY

It is hard to find the farm from the small but busy main road. Small hand made signs point the way.

THE CROWDS

The farmers estimates they have made up the financial loss by selling directly to the public.

TAKING PICTURES

Many are there to only take pictures and not to buy. Some expensive cameras are used by mostly younger Hong Kongers.

DEAD SUNFLOWERS

Many of the sunflowers have already died. They will be picked and thrown away as there are too many toxins in the plants.

A DYING FLOWER

Not sure if it is the dry weather or the toxins but some of the flowers are on the verge of death.

HEALTHY ONES

Some of the flowers are still salvageable and are bought by locals for $40HKD ($5 US).
