My latest fascination has been the HBO Series called True Blood. I watched the first season and kind of thought it was a “Full Moon” kind of thing with girl falls in love with vampire and everything is lovey dovy. The first season was light and fluffy with a touch of darkness.
There also seems to be a thread of acceptance of others with vampire taking the role of the “others” (being gays, lesbians, blacks, Hispanics….). There are debates on whether they are real people and should they be allowed to get married. Everyone seems to be afraid of them, but there doesn’t seem to be much to fear from them, other than some of them who kill ruthlessly. The series is done by Allan Ball, who did Six Feet Under and American Beauty.
Currently, I am in the second show of the second season and I am finding it darker than ever. I find it more interesting because of the demons and the other things going on in the show. I find the second season more resembles Dexter with the blood and violence style. It is also has more twists and turns where I don’t know what is going to happen next. I am just worried that I am going to be up until 5 am watching it.
